Starting May 1st the American Kennel Club (AKC) will be offering a new Trick Dog titling category with 4 levels allowing dogs with any amount of experience to participate. Teaching dog tricks is enjoyable for you, mentally stimulating for your dogs and can take place at any time or place that fits your lifestyle.
The Paw Market owner & trainer, Marnie, is already a CGC evaluator making her a Trick Dog evaluator too. All dogs (purebred and mixed breeds), can earn Trick Dog titles provided the dog is AKC-registered, enrolled with AKC Canine Partners, or enrolled in the Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL) program. You can start filling out Trick Dog Title Applications now. Many of you are lucky having already been through our Trick classes and can title Novice and/or Intermediate pretty quickly. You even already know some of the tricks for Advanced. So if you want to add some letters to the back of your dogs name or just get noticed try this out! Keep in mind the titles need to be done in order, but you can send applications in for multiple titles at one time.
If your dog already has Canine Good Citizen, you are already halfway to your Novice Trick Dog title! If you do any agility with us – most of you can make your way through Advance title too. There is an application fee for each level to AKC so keep that in mind.
We will offer Trick Dog Evaluation times in April on Saturdays for only $10 per test. We are guessing these will fill up quickly. These times are for you to come and get evaluation for your applications. We will begin offering Trick Dog workshops again in late April early May for those of you wanting to add titles or start at the very beginning.
Enroll for your evaluation and join the tricks fun!
